CITY OF SPOKANE: SPD Requesting Help in Finding Stolen Car and Dog

Announce

City of Spokane issued the following announcement.

Update:

At about 12:43 p.m. today, a citizen called to report a dog and a BMW had been left in a parking lot in the area of 200 E. Lincoln Road since 7:30 this morning. Officers responded to the location and confirmed it was the stolen BMW and “Copper”.  The original media release was sent out at 12:11 p.m. It only took around 22 minutes to bring a happy end to the vehicle theft incident.

Santa came through again. It will be a happy holiday for “Copper” and his family.

To the Spokane community and media, we appreciate your help. Thank you!

The Spokane Police Department is requesting help from the community in locating a stolen car and dog. “Copper”, a Fox Labrador Retriever, was inside the victim’s vehicle when it was stolen.

On December 23, 2020, around 5:50 p.m., a Spokane citizen was unloading Christmas packages from her vehicle into her business in the area of 1800 E. Francis Avenue. While she was momentarily inside, a car thief stole her vehicle. To make matters worse, her beloved dog “Copper” was inside the car.

The stolen vehicle is a gray, four door, 2004 BMW 745i with WA plate BQN0044. Keep in mind car thieves will switch license plates to try and evade detection.

“Copper” is an 80 pound purebred Fox Labrador Retriever. He has the shape of a standard Labrador dog but his coloring is a darker brown than the traditional breed.

The Spokane Police Department is asking for the community’s help in locating and reuniting “Copper” with the family. Let’s share this request across all your social media hoping to find “Copper” today and restore this family’s Christmas and holiday season.

If you know the whereabouts of “Copper” or the stolen vehicle please call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233 and reference incident #2020-20220201.
