COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF SPOKANE: Fall Sports Postponed to Winter Quarter

Postponed

Community College of Spokane issued the following announcement.

The 2020 Cross Country season for CCS and others in the NWAC has been moved to the winter quarter. Of those member colleges offering cross country, they will follow the same out of season training protocol as the rest of the fall sports. The NWAC Sports Medicine committee prescribes a “color phase” protocol for student athletes/teams to follow in order to return to play.

“Our efforts will now focus on working with the Cross Country committee to make their 2021 season the best it can possibly be,” states the NWAC.

Spokane County is currently still in Phase 2 of Washington State’s safe start recovery plan for COVID-19, which means the CCS Golf program is not regulated to travel at all during this time and is only training locally.

The announcement of the postponement of fall sports such as men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball, took place back in July, which provided a new set of Return to Play guidelines for practices, competition, and championships. These conference guidelines emphasize a focus on health and safety, a recognition of financial difficulties facing member colleges and an anticipation of the need for everyone to remain flexible and cooperative in this changing landscape.
