The City of Spokane has announced that it is considering building a much-needed water tank that will be located in Hamblen Park.
City officials say the tank would guarantee an abundance of water during a fire emergency. The tank would meet the demand for water to residents who need it most. Most often, the summer season brings restrictions on the water in the South Hill area due to shortages.
"We identified the need for additional water storage in this area several years ago," Public Works Director Scott Simmons told KHQ. "This project would help us improve water delivery to a large portion of our community and this site meets all the criteria for this work to be successful. It also provides an opportunity to make an investment in the parks system in this area."
Records indicate that the present water system has 23 pressure zones that deliver water to residents in the city, KHQ reported. This tank would be built in a “high system pressure zone” in the South Hill area.
