CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY: City to recognize centennial celebration of women's right to vote

Volunteer

City of Spokane Valley issued the following announcement.

On Wednesday, August 26, buildings and landmarks across the country, from skyscrapers to bridges to city halls will light up in the official suffrage colors of purple and gold as part of the Forward Into Light Campaign. This national effort is named in honor of the historic suffrage slogan, “Forward through the Darkness, Forward into Light.”

To celebrate this milestone, during the week of August 24-28, Spokane Valley's City Hall will light up the north and east windows in the council chambers in those same colors to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and women’s constitutional right to vote. August is also recognized as National Women's Suffrage Month.
