Gov. Jay Inslee said Washington will provide tens of millions of dollars to help small businesses and workers, while also extending a new round of restrictions.
Inslee's financial support plan and call for Congress to act on a new round of relief received support from officials in Spokane.
"The federal government is in the best financial and legal position to provide robust financial aid to the community," Spokane City Council President Breean Beggs said, KREM 2 reported.
The plan would provide $50 million for businesses and employees, on top of investments the state made earlier during the pandemic, KREm 2 news reported.
"I urge all members of Congress to enact the currently proposed down payment of $908 billion this week so that those sacrificing their economic health for the overall health of the community are not left behind," Beggs said, KREM 2 reported.
Though Inslee is preparing to provide the additional funding to businesses and workers, the governor also extended newly-enacted COVID-19 restrictions until Jan. 4. Those restrictions were set to expire on Dec. 14.
