COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF SPOKANE: Library parking lots around Spokane are now WiFi hotspots

Wifi

Community College of Spokane issued the following announcement on May 13.

When we switched to remote instruction about two months ago, we knew access to technology was one of the major roadblocks standing in the way of our students’ continued education.

Which is why we’re excited to share that WiFi Hotspots Connect Washington has launched free community internet at multiple library parking lots across the state, including in the Spokane area.

The WiFi is accessible regardless of how users arrive at the locations, and some sites also offer indoor public access during business hours.

Everyone using the sites – outside or inside – must practice social distancing and hygiene precautions, including staying in your vehicle or at least six feet from other users and wearing a mask if necessary.

To date, 140 of the new drive-in hotspots are operational, in addition to 301 existing Washington State Library hotspots identified across the state. All told, some 600 public hotspots will soon be available to keep Washington communities connected.

For a map of Spokane-area hotspots, visit their website. So far, Spokane has free WiFi at the North Spokane Library, Moran Prairie Library, Argonne Library, Spokane Valley Library and The Bookend store at Spokane Valley Mall, to name a few.
