Congressman Michael Baumgartner, who represents Eastern Washington in the U.S. House of Representatives, reflected on his first year in Congress through a series of social media posts on January 1, 2026.
In his initial post of the new year, Baumgartner shared: “A look back at 2025 in Congress: Happy New Year, Eastern Washington! I look forward to serving you in Congress in 2026!” (January 1, 2026).
Later that day, he highlighted positive experiences from his inaugural term with another message: “15 great memories from a great first year in Congress! “ (January 1, 2026).
Baumgartner also listed his swearing-in as one of these significant moments: “1. Swearing in to work for the people of Eastern Washington” (January 1, 2026).
Baumgartner began representing Eastern Washington after being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Members of Congress are typically sworn into office at the start of each new session following elections held every two years.
