Congressman Michael Baumgartner, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, posted several statements on his social media account on February 18, 2026, addressing topics ranging from artificial intelligence and national security to religious observance.

In a post early that day, Baumgartner emphasized the role of Washington State University in national efforts related to technology competition with China. He wrote, “WSU is an important part of Congress and the federal government’s plan to win the AI race vs China. GoCougs. “ (February 18, 2026).

Later in the afternoon, he acknowledged the start of Lent, referencing its significance for Christians. Baumgartner stated, “This day marks the beginning of a new Lenten season. As Christians we are called to remain humble in our faith and celebrate today through reflection and prayer.” (February 18, 2026).

In another post that day, Baumgartner commented on U.S. military action against Iran’s nuclear program. He said, “Thanks to our brave airmen and President Trump’s leadership, Iran’s nuclear program was dealt a very serious blow in “Midnight Hammer”, however it’s extensive ballistic missile program and support for terrorist groups still remain a dire threat to US national security interests.” (February 18, 2026).

Baumgartner represents Washington state in Congress and has been active in discussions about national security and technological innovation.
