Congressman Michael Baumgartner, who represents Washington’s 5th Congressional District, posted a series of tweets on December 16 and 17, 2025, highlighting both sports achievements and a personal event at the Capitol.
On December 16, Baumgartner congratulated a coach and referenced the Cougars’ success, stating: “Congrats Coach. Cougs got a winner. All the way up. https://t.co/ZN5lSEn8c8”.
Later that evening, he shared details about a special moment involving Washington State University (WSU) students at the Capitol. On December 17, he wrote: “Wow! True love in the Capitol tonight. WSU student Ethan Keogh asked us if we could arrange for him to surprise his girlfriend Paris with a marriage proposal in the Rotunda. The setup was that I was leading them on a “special tour” they had won by drawing their name out of a Coug https://t.co/2NfkIt9eMt”.

Baumgartner has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 5th district since January 2023 after previously holding office in the Washington State Senate.
