Gonzaga Track completed its regular season with athletes competing in two Last Chance Meets, according to a May 16 announcement. The women’s team participated in the West Coast Last Chance meet in San Francisco, while the men’s team competed at Portland’s Stumptown West Coast Twilight.
These final competitions provided opportunities for athletes to set personal and program records before the postseason. Performances from both teams could influence selections for upcoming national championships.
Ashlinn Aguayo achieved a career best in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.28, which placed her third all-time in Gonzaga’s record book. Clare Mullin also made history by running the 1500 meters in 4:21.36, earning fifth place on the program’s all-time list. Maria Taggi Padro and Emma Taggi Padro finished their races with times of 4:30.88 and 4:34.33 respectively.
For the men’s team, Hayden Roberts ran the third fastest 800 meters time in school history at 1:50.24 during competition in Portland. Charlie Goss completed his race with a time of 1:51.97, while Mason Kissell ran a notable seventh fastest program time for the men’s 10,000 meters at 29:10.08 and Ryan Mitchell secured eighth place on that list finishing at 29:25.21.
Other performances included Logan Schwartz clocking a time of 3:45.20 in the men’s 1500 meters, followed closely by Logan Law and Jacob Alfonso who finished with times of just over three minutes forty-seven seconds each. In longer distances, Noah Laughlin-Hall recorded a time of fourteen minutes forty-one seconds for five thousand meters; Gus Clevenger and Will Thorsett completed ten thousand meter runs under thirty-one minutes each.
Looking ahead, Gonzaga Track aims to send runners to compete at the NCAA West Regional Championship beginning May 27 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The NCAA will announce individual bids for this tournament on Thursday, May 21.
