Gonzaga track athletes set new program records at Stanford and Whitworth meets

Gonzaga Track reported on April 3 that its athletes achieved several personal bests and program record times during competitions at the Stanford Invite and Whitworth’s Peace Meet.

The performances saw Gonzaga runners setting or improving top ten all-time marks in both men’s and women’s events. At the Stanford Invite, Logan Hofstee recorded a time of 32:21.15 in the women’s ten thousand meters, which is now the second fastest in school history. Charlotte Dillon finished with a time of 33:32.93 to claim fifth place on the all-time list, while Anna Grabowski’s time of 33:50.80 moved her into eighth.

In men’s competition, Logan Schwartz completed the ten thousand meters in 28:52.62, making it the fourth fastest time for Gonzaga men. Mason Kissell improved his own standing as seventh fastest with a run of 29:14.26.

The three thousand meter steeplechase also saw strong results for Gonzaga men at Stanford; Logan Law posted an 8:42.45 finish to secure third place in school history, while Paul Talens ran an 8:48.01 for seventh.

At Whitworth’s Peace Meet, Ashlinn Aguayo led GU women in the eight hundred meters with a personal best of 2:13.62, while Charlie Goss paced GU men with his own best at 1:53.56. In addition, five Gonzaga women finished under four minutes forty seconds in the fifteen hundred meters—Maria Taggi Padro led this group with a time of 4:27.28, followed by Clare Mullin (4:28.32) and Anna Lanigan (4:31.67).

Looking ahead, Gonzaga Track will return to compete again at Whitworth during the Jeff Rahn Classic scheduled for April 10.
