Congressman Michael Baumgartner has used his Twitter account to highlight agricultural achievements in Eastern Washington, recent Congressional efforts on cancer, and his participation in a Judiciary hearing. The posts were made between February 10 and February 11, 2026.
On February 10, Baumgartner acknowledged the role of local agriculture in global food security and community development: “Eastern Washington grows some of the best chickpeas and lentils in the world. Our pulse farmers help feed a hungry planet while building healthy soils and strong rural communities. On #WorldPulsesDay, let’s celebrate our pulse growers on the Palouse and across the globe.” Pulse crops such as chickpeas and lentils are significant for both human nutrition and soil health, contributing to sustainable farming practices.
In another post dated February 11, Baumgartner referenced public recognition from a major health organization: “Pretty cool that the American Cancer Society ran full page ads THANKING CONGRESS for doing more than has ever been done to fight cancer! Pretty cool to be a member of Congress accomplishing so much! Historic tax cuts! New American energy! Fighting Cancer! What great stuff is” The American Cancer Society is known for advocating cancer research funding and public policy support.
Later that day, Baumgartner discussed his attendance at a Judiciary hearing with Attorney General Pam Bondi: “At Judiciary hearing w AG Pam Bondi. What questions would you ask the AG? (Note, as a Frosh I won’t get to ask until hr 4-5. So a lot of subject matter will have been plowed by then. In general, I think the country would be better served by members of Congress asking actual” As a freshman member of Congress, he noted his limited opportunity to participate early in such hearings.
Baumgartner represents Eastern Washington’s interests in Congress and often uses social media to communicate developments relevant to agriculture, health policy, and legislative proceedings.
