Congressman Michael Baumgartner, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, has recently addressed several issues through his official Twitter account.

On December 14, 2025, Baumgartner posted a statement regarding global responses to violence against Jews. He wrote, “Awful. The entire world should speak out and condemn terror and violence targeting Jews. “

The following day, on December 15, 2025, Baumgartner commented on the state of collegiate athletics in the United States. He stated, “Weird. There were MORE Olympic sports on college campuses BEFORE the football arms race went nuclear. Sensible oversight to cap the football arms race in the name of competitive balance and fiscal sustainability is the only way to keep thriving Olympic sports on college campuses.” His remarks reflect ongoing national debates about resource allocation within college athletics programs.

Later that same day, Baumgartner invited constituents to participate in an upcoming telephone town hall meeting. In his tweet dated December 15, 2025, he announced: “Join me TOMORROW for a telephone town hall where I will be sharing some of our first-year wins and to hear about what matters most to YOU going into 2026! 5:00PM–6:00PM PST (833) 998-0867” Such events are commonly used by members of Congress as a platform for direct communication with their constituents.

Baumgartner’s comments on college athletics come amid broader discussions about the impact of high spending in college football programs and its effects on other sports offerings at universities nationwide.
